Grimm’s Fuel Company, located in Tualatin, is a facility that takes about 60% of greater Portland’s yard waste and turns it into compost. Grimm’s operates under a license granted by Metro. In recent years, the Grimm’s facility has been the subject of several complaints from neighbors regarding odors, dust and other nuisance conditions at the facility.
Since early 2017, Metro has engaged the community, the management of Grimm’s, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and other government agencies in addressing concerns about the facility and setting the terms for a new license.
