Bring your lunch and hear from Metro’s Economic Development Planner, Jeff Raker, and the Research Center team who developed the Economic Value Atlas mapping tool in partnership with The Brookings Institution.
What is the Economic Value Atlas?
Our region’s explosive growth has been a double-edged sword. Amidst growing industries, low unemployment and rising home prices, prosperity and improved livability have benefited only certain segments of the population. More than ever, plans for land use and transportation need to support a thriving regional economy for everyone.
The presentation will highlight the toolset’s use of data to paint a picture of the regional economy and how it sheds light on the areas of business growth, connecting workers to job opportunities, and linking our region to outside markets. The tool also helps enable transparent public discussions about our shared values and economic conditions, and has the potential to guide our urban planning and infrastructure investment to be more intentional and equitable.
