Two dozen landscape architecture students from the University of Oregon will be presenting recommendations on closing the last seven miles of the 40-Mile Loop. The 40-Mile Loop is a regional multimodal path used by runners, walkers and cyclists and is one of the region’s signature trails. The remaining seven-mile gap traverses industrial land, residential subdivisions, the Beaver Creek Natural Area and downtown Troutdale.
The students are participants in the University of Oregon Sustainable City Year Program, a partnership with Metro, Gresham, Troutdale and Multnomah County. The program pairs students who have professional-level training with Oregon government agencies to provide hands-on work on sustainability projects.
