What is the Conditionally Exempt Generator (CEG) program?
The Metro CEG program makes proper disposal convenient and affordable for businesses and helps them keep hazardous waste from harming the environment, humans and wildlife. Improper disposal of such waste violates Oregon law. If your business generates small amounts of hazardous waste, you may be eligible to dispose of it at a designated Metro facility as a Conditionally Exempt Generator.
Your business is considered a CEG if it:
- produces less than 220 pounds (100 kilograms) of hazardous waste each month (about 25 gallons of liquid waste with a weight comparable to water)
- produces less than 2.2 pounds of acutely hazardous waste each month
- produces less than 220 pounds of spill-cleanup debris containing hazardous waste each month
- stores no more than 2,200 pounds of hazardous waste on-site.
If your business generates more than 220 pounds of hazardous waste per month or stores more than 2,200 pounds on-site, you must use a licensed hazardous waste hauler to declare and transport your waste. For more information, please call the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality at 503-229-5913.
To apply to Metro’s CEG program:
Complete the following form and click "Submit."
This information will help Metro staff determine whether the waste can be accepted and, if so, the disposal fee quote. A Metro representative will review your application, estimate the total fee and call to schedule a disposal appointment. If you have not been approved as a credit customer, the full disposal fee must be paid when waste is accepted at the facility.
For more information about participating in the program or establishing a credit account, call a CEG representative at 503-223-8133 (Metro Central) or 503-655-0330 (Metro South).
