Metro will honor Veterans Day by offering free admission to Metro regional parks and the Oregon Zoo for military veterans and active military personnel as well as family members who accompany them. Families of deployed military personnel also will be given free admission.
To receive free admission, visitors must show a military or veteran organization ID, discharge papers or other official military identification. Families of deployed military personnel must show an active duty dependent ID.
"Free admission to these Metro facilities is one small way we can honor those who have served our nation on this important national holiday," said Paul Slyman, director of parks and environmental services at Metro.
Veterans Day deals:
- Free admission to Metro parks and boat ramps
- Free admission to the Oregon Zoo
Metro staff will also march alongside Metro Council President Tom Hughes and councilors Bob Stacey and Sam Chase in the Veterans Day Parade Nov. 11 in Portland's Hollywood District.
The parade is scheduled to begin at Northeast 40th Avenue and Northeast Tillamook Street at 9:45 a.m., rain or shine.
