The Office of the Metro Auditor released its Annual Report for FY 2011–12 today. A total of six audits were completed during the year. Two of the audits were following up on previous audits, Zoo Capital Construction and Sustainability Management. Progress on implementing recommendations was noted in each area.
Highlights for the year were:
- 79% of recommendations were implemented five years after audits were issued.
- The number of audits completed per FTE dropped slightly. This is due to a major audit underway that won’t be completed until 2013.
- Expenditure and staffing levels held steady.
The Office is currently working on audits of transportation project outcomes, the ratio of staff to management and the risk management program. An audit of the organics waste program has just been started.
“Overall, the cooperation and response by Metro management has been good,” said Metro Auditor Suzanne Flynn, “I look forward to another year of interesting and productive work.”
