This past weekend I had a fun time participating in the Gateway Area Business Association Community Fair and Fun-O-Rama parade.
The event was truly a celebration of all the activities, businesses and organizations in the Gateway area of Portland. Some of the highlights included Gateway's 13th annual Citizen of the Year, east Portland’s very own “Friends of Gateway Green” advocates, Linda Robinson and Ted Gilbert, serving as grand marshals for the parade.
Of course, every parade must have a band, and thanks to the Floyd Light Middle School (David Douglas School District) for participating. Toes were tapping as they marched by. Fabulous entertainment was also provided by Mt. Hood Community College's Chamber Choir and Jazz Ensemble.
Even the weather cooperated by staying dry and sunny! It was a great parade and I was honored to be able to represent Metro Council at the event.
