Timed with the new light-rail service to Milwaukie and Oak Grove, Metro launched a campaign to encourage an active lifestyle through the use of various travel options.
As of Sept. 11, 686 Milwaukie and Oak Grove residents have signed up to receive more information on travel options in their neighborhood.
Milwaukie spokesman Grady Wheeler said the purpose of Drive Less Save More: Milwaukie is to help Milwaukie and Oak Grove residents explore travel options such as walking, bicycling, taking transit and carpooling. City and county officials hope to help citizens save money on gas and car maintenance.
“The travel options in Milwaukie and Oak Grove are convenient and reliable, and they are only expanding,” Wheeler said. “We’re excited to help folks get to and from the services and destinations they need.”
