Kids, play and the great outdoors, what could be better? These elements come together in a big way at the Regional Nature Play and Education Symposium, sponsored by Metro.
Professionals, parents, educators and members of the public are invited to learn and discuss elements of nature-based play with expert panelists and Oregon examples in the morning. In the afternoon, focus on the broader national and international context of connecting children with play and nature, culminating with a series of speakers, including keynote speaker David Bond, founder of the play-based British documentary film Project Wild Thing. Finally, stay into the evening for a screening of Project Wild Thing.
Recesses will take place throughout the day led by local non-profit Playworks, and an option to tour the new natural play area at the Portland Children's Musuem will be available during lunch.
Registration includes breakfast, brown-bag lunch, an evening meal and refreshments (and recess!) for $15.
Please register by Sept. 11. If you cannot register by Sept. 11 we will not be able to guarantee you a breakfast or lunch, so please register early.
