Are active transportation projects of regional significance? Contribute to a discussion about different ways to define “projects of regional significance” and help develop answers to a question that could guide future investments in transportation.
An ever-increasing body of research confirms the direct connection between our transportation options and job growth, economic vitality and human and environmental health. Yet many transportation conversations dismiss walking and bicycling as local concerns that have little regional impact. Is this the case? What criteria should be used when determining if a transportation project is of regional or statewide significance?
Invited speakers will present different perspectives on what it means to be regional in transportation and spark an open discussion. Ideas from the discussion will be captured in a white paper developed by the forum sponsors to inform future discussions and decisions on this topic.
The forum is slated to tap engaging ongoing conversations about how we talk about the importance of active transportation, parks and trails. The event is open and free to Alliance partners and the general public.
