As Oregonians, we have a long tradition of placing a high value our natural resources and environment. As a part of this tradition, the Oregon Convention Center has taken great strides to reduce its carbon footprint and improve the sustainability of its operations. This year, the OCC received two prestigious recognitions for its efforts.
Earlier this year, the Oregon Convention Center applied for re-certification of its LEED status. LEED, developed by the US Green Building Council, is a building standard that certifies best practices sustainable building and design. Previously, the OCC had been rated as a LEED Silver facility. After a number of small-scale investments, we were able to obtain LEED Platinum status, the highest rating possible.
In July, the Convention Center achieved a Level Four sustainability rating by ASTM International, formerly known as the American Society for Testing and Materials, which establishes internationally-recognized testing standards across a number of industries. The OCC is the first convention center to achieve this level of certification.
Congratulations to our Oregon Convention Center team!
