The Office of the Metro Auditor released its Annual Report for FY2013-14 today. A total of seven audits were completed during the year. Two of the audits were following up on previous audits, IT Software and Leave Management. Progress on implementing recommendations was noted in each area.
Highlights for the year were:
- 76% of recommendations were implemented five years after audits were issued.
- The number of audits completed per FTE increased. This is due to an effort to reduce the number of hours used to complete audits on the current schedule.
- Expenditure and staffing levels held steady.
The Office is just finishing audits of Metro’s Recycling Hotline and the management of non-capital assets. Two other audits are scheduled to be released in December on the budgeting process and performance measures as the current auditor finishes her final term at Metro. “I am pleased with the work that this office completed this last fiscal year, as well as all of the work completed in the last eight years,” said Metro Auditor Suzanne Flynn. “Overall, Metro has been cooperative and receptive to our recommendations.”
The full report is available under “Other Reports” on the Metro website at http://www.oregonmetro.gov/auditor . A hard copy may also be obtained by calling the Office of the Metro Auditor at 503-797-1892. The Metro Auditor will brief the Metro Council on Thursday, October 2, 2014.
