Haulers bringing trash, recyclables or construction and demolition waste to Metro transfer stations or other material recovery facilities can save money by checking out these recycling options first:
Construction Salvage and Recycling Toolkit lists more than 100 recyclers by type of materials accepted.
Still need to get rid of waste?
All mixed waste generated within the Metro boundary must be delivered to a Metro-authorized material recovery facility whether it is to be recycled or disposed. This applies to all haulers and generators in the region – whether using disposal facilities inside or outside the region boundaries. Hauling solid waste from within region boundaries to a non-approved facility may result in prosecution by Metro for recovery of unpaid fees and taxes plus civil penalties of up to $500 per violation.
Out-of-region facilities approved to accept certain wastes generated from within the region have agreements with Metro to collect fees and taxes for Metro at the gate.
If you generate or collect mixed construction and demolition waste and seek to deliver it to a facility not licensed, franchised or designated by Metro, you must first apply for a non-system license from Metro.
Dry waste recovery requirements and process
Metro's Dry Waste Recovery Program was designed to meet state-mandated goals for recovery of materials from mixed dry waste – primarily construction and demolition debris.
