Hours, automated lanes and lower fees
Metro credit account holders without RFID (radio frequency) tags are limited to public hours at Metro South or Metro Central transfer stations. If you have obtained a Metro credit account, you can request RFID tags for your vehicles. These tags offer lower fees and access to automated lanes separate from lanes used by self-haul customers.
Account holders’ vehicles with RFID tags using the automated access lanes are given expanded access at:
Metro South
3 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday
7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
Metro Central
2 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
3 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday
Obtain RFID tags
To request RFID tags, stop by the main scalehouse at Metro South or Metro Central transfer stations during public hours.
RFID tags are assigned to specific trucks and installed by scalehouse staff. Installation includes riveting the tag onto the truck. When requesting tags, Metro account customers must provide information on all vehicles using the account. The information will be entered into the scalehouse information files. Drivers of trucks not on file will be asked for proof of authorization to use the account.
To protect your account from unauthorized charges, the driver of a company vehicle may charge to your account only when one of the following conditions is met:
- A written authorization for the vehicle and the license plate or Metro decal is on file. The authorization must be on company letterhead and contain the Metro account number, the vehicle license plate number and the duration of the authorization.
- The vehicle is permanently marked with the company name.
- The vehicle is registered to the company.
The authorization letter can be presented to scalehouse staff or emailed to [email protected].
For help with an application, call Metro finance and regulatory services at 503-797-1620, option 2. For questions regarding vehicle authorization, call the scalehouse supervisor at 503-995-8349.
