Shaping the future
Metro brings people together to make decisions about where we grow, how we get around and what happens to our waste. Metro guides investments in jobs, roads and transit while working to protect farms, forests and clean air and water for future generations.
Metro owns and operates 17,000 acres of parks and natural areas, the Oregon Zoo, Portland’5 Centers for the Arts, Portland Expo Center and the Oregon Convention Center. Two recycling and garbage stations accept trash, recyclables and hazardous waste from residents, businesses and commercial haulers. Metro also provides tools for everyday living, from a recycling hotline to a bike map to MetroPaint.
