Any individual who receives compensation for lobbying and spends more than five hours every three months lobbying a Metro official must register as a lobbyist. All current registered lobbyists are listed on this webpage.
Lobbyist registration requirements are codified in Metro Code chapter 2.17: Code of ethics for Metro officials and requirements for lobbyists. The following definitions apply:
- “Lobbying” means influencing, or attempting to influence, legislative action through oral or written communication with elected Metro officials, solicitation of others to influence or attempt to influence legislative action or attempting to obtain the good will of Metro councilors.
- “Lobbyist” means: (i) Any individual who agrees to provide personal services for money or any other consideration for the purpose of lobbying; and (ii) Any employee of a business, not-for-profit corporation, association, organization, or other group, who engages in lobbying.
- "Metro official" means any department director, manager, elected official or Metro commissioner.
Term of registration
Registrations expire on January 31 of the next odd-numbered year after filing, except for registrations submitted on or after July 1 of an even-numbered year, which expire on January 31 of the second odd-numbered year after filing.
Registrations will expire depending on when the form is received by Metro. For example, if you send a registration form to Metro in 2023, your registration will expire on Jan. 31, 2025. If you send a registration form to Metro on or after July 1, 2024, your registration will expire Jan. 31, 2027.
