Far West Recycling - Hillsboro submitted an application to Metro for a solid waste facility license to receive and sort materials such as paper, plastic and metal for recycling markets. Far West Recycling - Hillsboro has been in operation since 1999, and this type of facility was previously exempt from obtaining a Metro license. Due to recent changes to Metro Code (effective Jan. 1, 2019), Far West Recycling - Hillsboro is now required to obtain a license from Metro. To share your views, comment by 5 p.m. Oct. 17, 2018

Description of facility and application

Far West Recycling - Hillsboro is owned and operated by Far West Fibers, a waste management company headquartered in Portland, Oregon. The facility accepts source-separated recyclables, paper, plastic, glass, metal and electronics from commercial haulers and residential customers.

According the the city of Hillsboro, the proposed use is allowed.
