Government Auditing Standards require that auditors collectively have the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to complete audit work. Following the example of the U.S. Government Accountability Office, the Metro Auditor hires staff from a variety of backgrounds, not necessarily auditing. Collective experience includes public policy and administration, public accounting, performance measurement, education, urban affairs and planning. Each auditor has an extensive knowledge of auditing methods and techniques, analytical skills, ability to effectively use information technology, and knowledge about government operations and change management.
Metro Auditor Brian Evans first took office in January 2015. He was reelected for a second term beginning January 2019. Auditor Evans brings 12 years of government experience to the office.
