Tony Pickett, vice president of master site development at Denver’s Urban Land Conservancy, has been the driving force behind some of the nation’s most innovative and successful efforts in equitable development and affordable housing.

On Friday, March 17 in Portland, Pickett will share lessons from his work in two rapidly growing metro areas – and discuss how those lessons could apply here, as greater Portland grapples with a continuing housing affordability crisis. The event begins at 8 a.m. at Metro Regional Center, 600 NE Grand Ave.
As executive director of the Atlanta Land Trust Collaborative, he led efforts to create equitable development along the $2.8 billion Atlanta Beltline, seeking to create 5,600 affordable housing units over 25 years to mitigate potential displacement and gentrification impacts in existing underserved communities along a 22-mile transit corridor.
He continues his resourceful, collaborative approach to site development in Denver with the Urban Land Conservancy, which acquires, develops, and preserves community real estate assets in urban areas for community needs such as schools and affordable housing.
With a 25-year career in equitable development, housing, creative placemaking and community partnerships, Pickett has much to share with people who care about housing affordability in Oregon.
