May is National Bike Month and Get There partners in the greater Metro region are excited to announce the 2025 Bike Month Challenge. Hosted by Metro, Oregon Department of Transportation, local governments and community partners, the month-long challenge is open to anyone living or working in the Metro region.
Participants can win prizes by logging any bike trip (manual or e-bike) on the Get There Oregon website - whether commuting to work or just cruising around town.
From May 1 to 31, Bike Month participants who log bike trips will qualify for weekly prize drawings, monthly grand prize drawings and will be in the running for the title of Team or Individual Bike Month Champions. Participants can join a work team or form their own team.
It’s free to join! Here’s how:
- Sign up for the challenge through Get There. If you are not already a Get There user, visit GetThereOregon.org to get started. To find the Challenge, click Programs in the top menu bar of any page then click Challenges to see Bike Month Challenge. You may need to use the large blue arrow in the right side to navigate if you have multiple challenges available to you.
- Join an existing team or create a team of your own with friends or neighbors. If you were sent a link to join a team, you must (1) register at the link (2) join the challenge, and (3) click the team link provided by your Team Captain. To create a team, visit the Challenge page and click the Create a Team button.
- Log your rides and win prizes! Teams will compete for recognition and prizes by logging trips taken by bike - a manual or e-bike - for any trip, whether commuting to work or wherever you need to go. Challenge top honors and the Bike Month Trophy will go to the team with the most trips at the end of May. View full prize details
Throughout the month there will be events and pop-up kiosks with free giveaways to encourage and support bike riding all year. Visit The Shift calendar for Bike Month Challenge 2025 events to find an event or pop-up near you.
Get There partners will be offering trip-planning resources, biking and commuting tips and free giveaways at community events like Portland Sunday Parkways and Bike Beaverton, find a “bike buddy” event with Bike Loud, or enjoy a free coffee and donuts at a commute pop-up in Clackamas County.
