One way Metro coordinates its regional forecasts with local governments is to distribute, or allocate, the regional forecasts to smaller geographic areas known as TAZ, or Transportation Analysis Zones. This allocation is performed every six years.
MetroScope is Metro’s real estate and land use allocation model. It is used to prepare a market-based allocation of household and employment growth to the TAZ level. The TAZ allocation then undergoes several rounds of local government review.
The final 2035 TAZ forecast allocation, approved in 2012, includes a 25-year growth outlook for households and employment changes for the Portland-Vancouver Metropolitan Area.
