Metro is working to remove barriers that people with disabilities may experience when they visit Metro destinations, participate in Metro programs, weigh in on Metro policies and projects, and seek Metro information online.
Evaluation of Metro facilities and programs
The first step to remove barriers for people with disabilities is to evaluate the accessibility of facilities, standards and practices. Metro’s ADA coordinator and the Accessibility Program staff oversaw this evaluation process. They are also keeping track of how Metro carries out its transition plans to remove any barriers flagged during that evaluation.
This work addresses the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act and supports Metro’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Metro is continually working to remove barriers identified through this evaluation process.
The Accessibility Program reports to Metro's chief operating officer. The program team ensures that systems are in place for a coordinated approach to accessibility. The program's goal is to eliminate barriers for people with disabilities in Metro’s policies, programs and facilities.
