Christine was sworn into office to represent the communities of District 2 on Metro Council. She serves on MPAC, MERC, the Willamette Falls Locks Commission, the Willamette Falls Partners Group, the Oregon Zoo Foundation Board and the Community Placemaking Advisory Committee.
Christine has a decade of experience in state and local government policy and advocacy roles. Immediately prior to her time on Council, she served as the Legislative Director at the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries. In 2016 she managed the historic housing bond campaign in the City of Portland.
Christine’s community involvement includes service as member of the Board of Trustees at Reed College, her alma mater, where she earned a B.A. in Anthropology. She is currently on the boards of the Willamette Falls Trust and the Willamette Falls and Landings Heritage Area Coalition. Her previous board service includes environmental organizations, groups working to advance women in leadership, and several local government advisory committees. She gives back by volunteering with Minds Matter of Portland, the Junior League of Portland, and the Portland Opera, among other organizations.
Balancing a busy schedule serving the community, Christine partners with organizations growing their capacity to make an impact in their sector. She served as a 2019 Teaching Fellow with the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Social Impact Studies.
She and her husband Mike live in the Willamette neighborhood of West Linn.
Councilor Lewis began her term in 2019; her current term expires Jan. 2, 2023.
