A map of corridors with projects proposed in the Measure 26-218.
Get Moving 2020 envisioned approximately 150 total safety, transit and traffic projects in 17 major travel corridors around the Portland region.
Proposed corridor projects included a light rail line in the Southwest Corridor between downtown Portland and Washington County, a rapid regional bus network, bridge replacement and repair, sidewalks and pedestrian crossings, off-street biking and walking facilities, and traffic signal and intersection upgrades.
Programs in every community
Get Moving 2020 also proposed dedicated resources for several regionwide initiatives, to ensure that the benefits of investments extend beyond the corridors to reach everyone in the Portland area. These programs included:
- Safe Routes to School: Sidewalks, crosswalks and other investments that help students get to school safely.
- Safety Hot Spots: Crosswalks, signals, and improvements that reduce traffic-related deaths and injuries.
- Regional Walking and Biking Connections: Connecting the region's off-street bridges, paths, and bikeways.
- Revitalizing Main Streets: Sidewalks, crosswalks, seating, lighting, street trees and other improvements in greater Portland's downtowns.
- Anti-displacement Strategies: Community-led strategies to prevent displacement where major transportation investments are planned.
- Affordable Housing Options: Maintaining affordable housing options near transportation investments.
- Planning for the Future:Planning transportation investments to prepare for expected population growth.
- Better Bus: Dedicated bus lanes, bus priority signals, and features that make buses easier and faster to board.
- Electric Buses: Converting buses to run on electricity and other clean fuels.
- Affordable Fares for Students: Free bus and MAX fares for students.
