Diverse perspectives and voices make our regional government more socially just and equitable.
Metro, in partnership with Unite Oregon, convened community members to advise on the location, design and services provided at a new recycling and transfer center in Clackamas County.
Members of the community advisory group consist of people who people who live, work, worship or attend school within 5 miles of the existing Metro South transfer station and people of color and youth between the ages of 16-23 who live in Clackamas county.
The group met 11 times between August 2020 and May 2021 to learn about the project and to provide input about opportunities and potential impacts. The advisory group developed community criteria to be used with any property that is considered for purchase including the property currently under consideration in Clackamas.
Group members, along with other community members, will be invited to future conversations that will inform the design, services and operations of the new transfer station when the final location is confirmed.
