Karis Stoudamire-Phillips
Chair, representing Metro
Karis Stoudamire-Phillips, a Portland native, supervises corporate responsibility and community relations at Moda Health. Previously, she administered the Damon Stoudamire, Inc., Foundation for ten years, and has worked for Legacy Health Systems Foundation, the American Red Cross, Pacific Northwest Regional Blood Services and Allergy Associates Research Center. She has served on numerous boards, including those of the YWCA and Schoolhouse Supplies. Stoudamire-Phillips is also a member of several community organizations, including the Prosper Portland's Neighborhood Economic Development Leadership Group.
John Erickson
Vice chair, representing Clackamas County
John Erickson has years of experience in the hospitality industry and has worked in many aspects including operations, project management, sales, and marketing. Currently, John serves as the Chairman of the Clackamas County Tourism Development Council in Clackamas, Oregon and on the Education Foundation board for the Oregon Restaurant and Lodging Association. Formerly, he was the Director of the Hospitality Program at Marylhurst University. Erickson earned his Master of Business Administration as well as his Bachelor of Science at Marylhurst University.
Deidra Krys-Rusoff
Secretary-Treasurer, representing Metro
As a Portfolio Manager for Becker Capital Management, Deidra Krys-Rusoff brings more than 20 years of experience in the investment business as a fixed income analyst, trader and portfolio manager at Ferguson Wellman Capital Management and US Bancorp. She has served as Chair of the Oregon Zoo Bond Citizens' Oversight Committee, is a member of Metro's Investment Advisory Board and is also an active member of the Columbia-Willamette YMCA Childcare Volunteer Board. Krys-Rusoff, a native of Idaho, earned her Bachelor of Arts in Zoology from the College of Idaho.
Damien Hall
Representing Portland
Damien Hall is an attorney with the firm of Ball Janik LLP, where he is the real estate and land use practice group leader. He serves on the Board of Commissioners for Home Forward, the Board of Directors for Portland Community Reinvestment Initiatives, Inc., and the CareOregon Board of Directors. He is a member of the Prosper Portland’s Central City Budget Advisory Committee and a member of the Young Leaders Group of the Urban Land Institute of Oregon and Southwest Washington, the Oregon Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties and NAIOP’s Developing Leaders Committee. Hall received a Bachelor of Science in Public Policy, Planning and Management from the University of Southern California and earned his law degree from the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College.
Ray Leary
Representing Portland
Native Portlander Ray Leary is active in real estate and community development as a principal officer of ERL, LLC. He co-owns Leary & Associates, providing consulting services for diversity training and organizational development. Leary previously worked as an executive assistant to the president and CEO of Adidas America before becoming the project manager for Adidas’ first full-line retail store in Portland. He also served as the Urban League of Portland’s interim president and as director of development.
Dañel Malán
Representing Multnomah County
Dañel Malán and her husband co-founded Milagro, the premier Latino arts and culture center of the Pacific Northwest providing Latino theatre, culture, and arts education for the enrichment of all communities since 1985. Malán also created Milagro’s touring and arts education program, Teatro Milagro which presents original bilingual plays and educational residencies to diverse and underserved communities across the nation. She continues to work with both programs providing creative input, mentoring and managing staff as well as providing budget oversight. Additionally, Malán co-founded OYE, Opciones y Educación, a Latino sexual health coalition with Multnomah County Health Department and has also developed a cultural competency training program for the corporate sector. Malán received her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from the University of California, San Diego and graduated with a Master of Science in Curriculum Instruction from Portland State University.
Deanna Palm
Representing Washington County
Deanna Palm has been president of the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce since December 2001. Additionally, Palm is past chair of the Oregon State Chamber of Commerce, serves as president-elect for the Hillsboro Community Foundation, co-chairs the Hillsboro School Bond Advisory Committee, serves on the Workforce Development Board for the region and is a member of the Hillsboro Airport Master Plan Advisory Committee. Palm was appointed to serve on the Portland Community College Board of Directors in 2009 and was elected to serve in that position in 2011 and again in 2015. She served as Chair of the Board for Portland Community College in 2015 and 2016.
