Metro Councilor Bob Stacey (he, him, his) was sworn into office in 2013 to represent portions of Northeast, Southeast and Southwest Portland. He is passionate about advancing affordable housing in the metro region, the efficient use of land and the protection of farms and forests and investing in a robust bicycle, pedestrian and transit network throughout the region.
As a Metro Councilor, Bob’s responsibilities include serving on the Metro Policy Advisory Committee, Metro’s Transit Oriented Development steering committee, HB 2017 Transit Advisory Committee, and acting as Solid Waste Liaison. In addition, Councilor Stacey has worked with staff and local partners on the Construction Career Pathways Project and Parks and Nature Bond refinement process.
Councilor Stacey’s public sector, non-profit and law practice experience over the past 37 years included serving as executive director of 1000 Friends of Oregon, chief of staff to Congressman Earl Blumenauer, executive director for policy and planning at TriMet, partner at Ball Janik LLP specializing in land use, senior policy advisor to Gov. Barbara Roberts, planning director for the City of Portland, chief of staff to Portland City Commissioner Earl Blumenauer and staff attorney at 1000 Friends of Oregon.
Councilor Stacey earned a B.A. in political science from Reed College and a law degree from the University of Oregon. He and his wife Adrienne share their Southeast Portland home with a daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons.
Councilor Stacey began his term in 2013; his current term expires Jan. 6, 2025.
