This summer Metro worked with community-based organizations to organize tours at different waste facilities throughout the region. Two of them were conducted in Spanish with the help of Centro Cultural de Washington County and Trash for Peace, both local nonprofits that provide services to Latinos living in the region. The tours are part of a larger effort to gather a range of opinions and perspectives that will help shape the 2030 Regional Waste Plan.

Este verano Metro trabajó con organizaciónes sin fines de lucro locales para organizar giras en instalaciónes de residuos de la región. Dos de ellas se realizaron en español con la ayuda del Centro Cultural de Washington County y Trash for Peace, ambas son organizaciónes comunitarias que brindan servicios a los latinos que viven en la región. Las giras son parte de un esfuerzo mayor para reunir una gama de opiniones y perspectivas que ayudarán formar al Regional Waste Plan 2030.

Last week, Metro and local partners worked together to clean up and remove garbage from the wooded and brushy banks along Interstate 84. Cleanup efforts stretched from the Rose Quarter all the way out to Northeast 92nd Ave.

Recycling facilities around greater Portland are significantly narrowing the types of plastic they accept, citing changes to global markets making it too hard to sell those plastics. These changes do not currently affect what people around the region can recycle at home.
