A Regional Snapshot speaker series event
Supporting small businesses, creating safe and walkable neighborhoods, promoting public health: Civic leaders are tasked with achieving many different goals with limited funding.
But what if investing in one of these goals could help with all of them?
Join us at the Beaverton City Library where Mark Fenton, a national expert on public health, planning and transportation, will discuss how cities of all sizes can use investments in walkability to create thriving business districts and healthy communities. Mayor Denny Doyle will discuss how the City of Beaverton is successfully applying this strategy in its own downtown.
Following the presentation, Mark Fenton and Beaverton leaders will take guests on a short walking tour of downtown to see how pedestrian improvements are transforming the area. Along the way, Mark will point out common challenges to walkability and share concrete solutions for how any community can address them to encourage health and prosperity.
Presentation: 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Walking tour: 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Optional no-host lunch at Big O’s Wood Fired Pizza to follow immediately after walking tour.
