We thank you so much for your willingness to serve, but due to challenging weather and hazardous conditions, we need to cancel the MLK Day of Service events at Lone Fir and Blue Lake. These special places will definitely need some care and attention from community volunteers after all the snow has passed, so stay tuned for further opportunities to join in a volunteer day of service. Thank you!
Let’s come together to work for safety and access to two of our region’s special places: Blue Lake Park and Lone Fir Cemetery.
The MLK Day of Service brings people together to strengthen communities and meet challenges, moving us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a “beloved community.” We’ll build community on the only federal holiday observed as a day of service. It’s a “day on, not a day off.”
The winter storms of the last two months have left broken branches and debris that need to be raked and collected. Join Metro’s rangers and other volunteers to make these two places safe and accessible for visitors.
