The opening reception for GLEAN, the environmental arts exhibition featuring trash transformed into works of art, is Friday, Aug. 14 at Disjecta Contemporary Art Center in North Portland. The show features five local, mid-career artists – Schel Harris, Brian Hutsebout, Beckey Kaye, Brenda Mallory and Rio Wrenn – and brings attention to the issue of excessive waste generation and why we should care about it.
Opening reception: Friday, Aug. 14, 6 to 9 p.m.
Exhibition: Aug. 14 through Sept. 6. Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m., Friday through Sunday.
