Metro’s brownfields program is overseen by an internal project manager, who monitors and tracks all expenditures and site work on behalf of the grant. Additionally, the program has outside oversight through an assigned Region 10 EPA Project Officer, and the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality’s Northwest Region Brownfield Coordinator.
The McLoughlin grant is guided by an advisory committee comprised of local community members, elected officials and local government staff. The committee is tasked with approving expenditure of grant funds for applicants that meet the established goals of the program:
- providing an economic development opportunity
- providing assistance to disadvantaged populations
- addressing immediate impacts to human health and safety
- enhancing public/private partnerships
