View designs created by kindergarten through 12th grade students in honor of Earth Day.
From 1996 through 2009, kindergarten through 12th grade students submitted designs for Metro's Earth Day art contest. The goal of the contest was to create billboard designs that would encourage viewers to conserve and protect resources through waste prevention, recycling, composting or using fewer toxic products.
Each year, the winning designs were produced as 14-foot by 48-foot billboards that were posted for Earth Day. Though Metro is no longer holding the art contest, you can view the winning designs below.
