Find a few quick tips to help you be safe while walking and biking with the new ¡Vámonos! maps.

  • When crossing streets, make eye contact with drivers as you step toward the curb so they know you want to cross.
  • Obey traffic signals and cross only at corners.
  • Watch for turning vehicles from behind or to the side of you.
  • On streets without sidewalks, walk on the side facing traffic. Be sure you are a safe distance from drivers that may not see you as they come up hills or around blind turns.
  • On paths shared by bicyclists, stay to the right.

Safety tips or bikers

  • Obey traffic signals.
  • Use hand signals for turns.
  • Ride as far to the right as safety allows, and watch for vehicles that may turn in front of you or car doors opening in your path.
  • Give pedestrians the right of way.
