Learn about plans for property improvements and a new operations contract for Glendoveer Golf Course and Fitness Trail.
Metro has begun discussions with CourseCo, a leading West Coast golf course operator, to negotiate a contract to manage the regionally-owned Glendoveer Golf Course and Tennis Center.
CourseCo sponsors youth programs and works successfully with communities in the other places where they manage courses. The company has also agreed that if they are selected, they will interview current staff at Glendoveer as they hire employees to operate the facility.
Negotiations could take several weeks before a decision is final. Learn more
Located in East Portland, Glendoveer Golf Course and Fitness Trail is one of Metro's most popular and heavily used recreation centers. The fitness trail attracts an estimated 3,300 visitors a year from the surrounding neighborhoods and throughout the region. The 242-acre site includes two 18-hole golf courses, two parking lots, four covered tennis courts, the Ringside restaurant, driving range, pro shop, and a two-mile public soft surface trail.
Work completed in 2011 for the Glendoveer comprehensive operational review and capital master-planning project identified a number of maintenance issues that range from the leaking water tower and irrigation system, to failing drywells, leaky roofs, and golf greens and tees that need attention. Generally, most of the buildings do not meet today’s codes and energy standards.
Recognizing the importance of Glendoveer to the community and the potential to generate increased revenue, Metro is seeking proposals for a new operations contract and developing a plan for improvements to the property. Key project goals include:

There will be multiple opportunities to provide feedback on the selection process for the operations contract and decisions about maintenance and improvements. Metro will continue to post project updates at the facility and send information about opportunities to get involved through email. To sign up for updates, send email to glendoveer@oregonmetro.gov.
The Glendoveer Golf Course was acquired by Metro from Multnomah County in 1996, as part of a transfer of assets that included the Expo Center, regional parks and pioneer cemeteries. For more information, contact Lydia Neill at 503-797-1830 or lydia.neill@oregonmetro.gov.
