Multifamily residents want to recycle

In fact, 89 percent of the multifamily households in the metro area report that they recycle most of the time. But they don't always do it right. Free assistance from local governments can greatly improve your recycling system, making it easier and more successful for managers and residents alike.

Recycling reminders really work

Studies show that posting two or three recycling reminders can increase participation by as much as 20 percent. The Recycling at Home partners can help you communicate effectively with your residents with free signs, label, posters and flyers that will help them recycle properly and reduce mistakes.

It's the law

Recycling at your multifamily community is not only a good idea, it's the law. Oregon requires that multifamily communities of five or more units have the opportunity to recycle (see Oregon Revised Statute 90.318). Recycling at Home partners can help you improve your recycling system, communicate effectively with your residents and comply with the law, all for free.

Sharon High, Brookshire Meadows and Camellia Park
Sharon High knows her recycling hauler at Brookshire Meadows. Early on, residents at the apartment complex sometimes mixed their garbage with recyclable glass, plastic and paper, making it unlikely the hauler would accept the materials. Undeterred, Sharon pressed ahead. She maintained a good relationship with the hauler and - as a longtime recycler in her own home - was eager to make recycling work for all Brookshire residents.
