Metro's natural area acquisition program acquires land from willing sellers and donors in designated target areas. Criteria for natural area selection are based on ecological principles established by decades of natural resource protection work in the region and prioritized through extensive public involvement.

Metro acquisition specialists work individually with landowners to craft agreements that are flexible, creative and best suited to their personal needs.
