How to use the Bike There! map on Google Earth

  1. Download the free Google Earth beta application and install the application on your PC or Mac.
    (http://earth.google.com/downloads.html)
  2. Download Metro's bike routes file "bike_there.kmz" below.
  3. Open Google Earth on your computer; from within GoogleEarth, go to file > open and open the Metro file.
  4. Use the dashboard in Google Earth to fly over the region and have a bird's eye view of the bike routes.

Bicycle Trip Planning Tool

The trip planner function in GoogleEarth is not currently designed for bike route selection. If you want to explore specific origin/destinations for selecting a bike route, please visit ByCycle.org. ByCycle's web site includes an online bicycle trip planner for the Portland metropolitan region. It uses Metro's bike map data.
