The North Portland Enhancement Committee administers monies generated by interest earned on approximately $1.65 million in the North Portland trust fund. The purpose of the North Portland Enhancement Committee is to:
Metro Councilor Rex Burkholder, District 5, chairs the North Portland Enhancement Committee. Seven citizens serve on the committee, each living in and representing a neighborhood in the North Portland target area, including Arbor Lodge, Cathedral Park, Kenton, Overlook, Portsmouth, St. Johns and University Park. Typically, members are community activists who are knowledgeable about the interests and needs of their neighborhood and the North Portland community in general. Members attend two to three meetings per grant cycle - usually in the spring - at Metro Regional Center in Northeast Portland.
Members are nominated by a panel of community members and confirmed by the Metro Council to serve a two-year term. Current membership on the committee includes the following community members:
