Founded in 1867, Brainard Cemetery is located at Northeast 90th Avenue and Glisan Street in Portland.

William Ebenezer and Elizabeth Marie Brainard turned over their land for use as a cemetery on Feb. 28, 1884, though many of the graves date back years before that. Several Civil War veterans are buried there and at least one headstone bears the date of 1875. William Brainard was a farmer, engineer, pilot and river boatman. His farm was located on Baseline Road east of Mount Tabor.
